Restore History

In September 1992, the first Habitat for Humanity ReStore in the United States opened its doors in Austin, Texas. At that

time, Habitat ReStores were known to sell building materials only. Today, with more than 700 stores in three countries and

growing, Habitat ReStores sell everything from building materials to household items to furniture.

ReStore Mission

  • Provide additional funding to support affiliates’ house-building goals.

  • Expand opportunities to serve a broader base of the low-income community by providing low-cost materials.

  • Provide good stewardship of sustainable resources in the community.
